Capital Punishment

Should it be legal throughout the entire US? Is it unjust or just? Does it accomplish for the better or the worse? What alternatives are there? What will happen when overpopulation plagues us all?

yes. because it's sadistic. It would do more to stop crime than the current system that is in place right now.

Re: Capital Punishment

capital punishment is moral in my book if the criminal did something harsh enough.

Alternatives? well i guess you could start some gruesome experiments on them in the interest of science.

That or you could put them all in a closed facility, drop a few rocket launchers and plasma guns in there, then televize a free for all, hardcore deathmatch and get huge ratings.

those are just my ideas though

simple, the government will secretly release a deadly virus that causes a huge epidemic to control the population. that is, if they hadn't already (AIDS)

yeah, i was connotating more at when overpopulation occurs do you guys think the gov't would tend to use captial punishment more often as another means of population control? Or would it still remain constant? Just as in, would suddenly, more and more people be found guilty and given capital punishment as the population increased for the real cause of just limiting humans. I don't really know, nor do i really care to think about it at the moment haha ^^. I'll get back to this thread on that when i think of somehting

I don't think capital punishment is right...
so the crime was really bad. maybe they killed someone. the reason they're in jail is because they murdered another human being and that's wrong. and so it's ok for the state to kill off the criminal? that seems like they're contradicting themselves, let's kill them because they killed someone else. two wrongs don't make a right...if it's wrong for that guy to kill then it should be wrong for the government to kill too. sure it might reduce the crime rate a bit, but I think of capital punishment as a crime too, because it's taking the life of another person.

overpopulation??
do u really think we'd be affected by overpopulation just because the death penalty is disallowed??

it's just speculation, doesn't take much to see that. What would be the implications of the legislation and motives for death penalty in the future is what it means, as in would it be more frequent because of it, and such.

Not that i believe it that much cause i wasn't saying what i thought yet, just posing a question.
