volcano high on mtv.

i saw a commercial for it on mtv. i guess they grew the balls to show a foreign flick on their network now.

if you haven't watched a korean movie.... i dont really recommend this movie but its somewhat entertaining. no big surprise that mtv is showing this movie first cuz its all about teens and their martial arts school n some bullshit like that. hahhaah... i think out of all the comic book movies.. this movie is the best translation from comic to film. its sort of buffy the vampire slayer meets matrix meets slam dunk sort of reminds me of slam dunk style cinematography.

Story: When Kim Kyung-soo is thrown out from his eighth school for blasting a teacher with a super-energy filled piece of chalk, he promises his family to finally graduate and not get kicked out from school. there was little substance to the plot, got rather boring

it would be kool if this movie was one of those movies that bombed but was made into a popular tv series.. like buffy... that would be excelllent to see koreans on the tube.

So how is this film going to be presented? With english subtitles or dubbed in english? It would be kind of cool to hear Korean coming out of the tv without there being a video tape in there. lol

I'm not positive about this, but I believe it will be dubbed, and I also believe that some rappers will be lending their voices for the movie as well.
Considering the viewer base that MTV currently has, I wouldn't go so far to say they've "grown the balls" to show a foreign flick, especially in the light that it will be dubbed and will feature the voices of famous rap artists. I remember reading reviews about Whasango a bit after it came out and it seems like a fun movie that is like a live version manga/anime as someone above put it. It's not a bad idea for MTV to capitalize on the popularity of these types of works, and show whasango. Nonetheless, i do think it's cool they're showing a corean film and I'll probably check it out since I have not yet seen the movie.

damn.... i hope they do a good job with it... A lot of things don't translate well between korean and english. I've seen a lot of times where they f-ck it up big time.

i looked on the mtv website and they call it an "mtv origional movie"... hmm well alright.

All of the people dubbing are black (oh i'm sorry.. african american). Not that THAT matters either.
