How to compliment a Women

by: Rodney Battles
----------

As you likely know, most men like compliments that appeal to their egos. Most women, however, like compliments that appeal to their vanity. All women love to receive compliments that make them feel good about themselves. The best compliments to give just about any woman are ones that are directed at the specific things that are important to her self-esteem.
After having a bad weekend, Judy's boss greeted her one Monday morning by saying, "You look nice today!" Although she thanked him, what she really heard from her boss was, "You look nice today. Normally you look like hell!" A better compliment from her boss would have been, "You look exceptionally nice today!" With the addition of just one word, he would have implied that she looks nice every day.

A compliment given to a woman the wrong way will be taken as an insult.
When a man gives a woman a compliment, he should watch her reaction closely and pay attention to how she responds. Most women will accept a sincere compliment graciously with a simple "Thank you." Occasionally, however, a well-timed compliment might produce more favorable results.

A woman may respond to a compliment with a smile, accompanied by a visible glint in her eyes. She may even return the favor by complimenting you. If she responds with more than five words -- for example: "Thank you, you are very kind," or "Thank you, it is kind of you to notice" -- she might be interested in a little more than just the compliment you've given her! The worst criticism for most women is that aimed at things affecting their self-esteem -- things they cannot change or cannot easily change about themselves. Of course, that's true of men as well. What man wants to hear comments about his height or lack of hair on top? If you want a loving relationship, then be as courteous to women as you'd like them to be to you.

if women are like that, i think they need to learn how to take a compliment. If i need to add another word, they can just not accept it. The intent is meant well, their preponderance of thought upon themselves (e.g. "You look nice today. Normally you look like hell!") should not take away any validity the compliment has. If someone is like that, they need to get higher self esteem. If i say someone looks nice today, it means today. I do not care about the rest of the days, i do not need to lie and say she does look nice everyday, that is superficial. She might not look nice everyday, and today she does so i am complimenting her on it. Why do we have to lie? That's superficial, do not spread superficiality please.

I think this reads too much into words and relies far too much on generalization to ever be correct. Specifically, where it talks about the more than 4 words or whatever in their response.

In all honesty, when a woman acts in that fashion as if they read into the compliment and then respond with modesty or any sort of refutation like: "no i look terrible" it always comes off to me as if they are fishing for more compliments. And, well i am not a person to bite onto that sort of bait. So they can accept it or just have low self esteem for naught. Their problem.

Rodney is a guy right?

Uhm... wow what a gross generalizataion.
BUT.... i don't get many compliments so i wouldn't know. I generally take anything remotely close to a compliment in a positive way. "your hair is different today" = "your hair looks good enough for me to notice!"

"damn look at them titties" - Dave Chapelle

No but seriously, for the sake of repetition, the author should stop generalizing, and realize that he is a fucking male and therefore is at a severe disadvantage when attempting to read into any woman's mindset. They have a hard enough time at it themselves.

but it is a generalisation, diff women, diff way of thinking. he cant speak for all of us.

people do not always look "nice" everyday, well they could but that is rather rare. Why do i have to lie and say you do if i only meant you look "nice" today? see what i'm saying, the compliment is relative to the time it was given, you might not look nice all the time and you shoudl know it and embrace it rather than demand a lie in order to accept the compliment. You look nice today, not always. Deal with it please.

*the you is not meant towards any poster, but rather towards everyone in general, just talking in 2nd person
