Alex Borenstein on Madtv

Don't you just hate that white lady who plays that bad representation of a asian women with the fobbish accent? Everytime i want to watch that show, im afraid that the lady would do a skit on tv. For the asians in california, is there any resentment? or you guys play it cool?

lol hiyas! actually it doesnt really bother me at all...i think its hilarious...i havent seen her do that skit in a long time...but umm...mebbe it does bug me a lil??? seeing that it IS a stereotype...hrm...yea

Well, to me its telling the audience , mostly non asians that we asians cannot speak proper english. So how can you say her skits are funny? I mean, cmon, whites and blacks make fun of asians everday.

i think you're looking too into it. asians make fun of white and black ppl too, is that funny? most asians think so... its a double standard to think that way.

i think its the intention of the "fun" implied by the jokes.. if it really is for fun then no harm.. if its degrading.. then its wrong.

and its not like theres a ms. white or a ms. black that and asian person plays on tv.. i think that would be a VERYY bad idea and would think it dispicable to be on t.v. now is THAT a double standard? i would think so.

Which asian comedian? or do you mean in real life? One thing i'll tell you is that i cannot stand that margaret cho character. My cousin went to her live show and got her taping...man, she was making fun of the accents of koreans and korean culture. What an idiot.

Yep thats her. It kinda bothers me since most asian people do act like her and its a reminder that some asians in the US right now have to go thru everday being teased and poke fun at by that characteristic.

if black people poke fun of black people its prolly cuz they have a good size black audience.. its funny cuz they can empathize.. so there really is no victim
margaret cho makes fun of koreans and asians.. in a crowd with, im assuming, a small asian audience and predominantly larger non asian crowd.. thats not funny to me

Well, the tape i was watching where she was doing a live act in las vegas, she had about 5% asian crowd, since they panned across the audiences...i saw alot of whites and some blacks.

Margaret cho makes or pokes fun at koreans to non asian crowd. Whats funny about that?
