Latest Report
Brazil 2-0 Columbia
the Brazilians, reigning kings of soccer even at the younger levels, went off to a uncharacteristically slow start, giving Columbia two dangerous scoring opportunities early in the match. However, all doubts that the Brazilians were down and out were dashed in the 15th minute when a header from Abuda found the back of the net, and the Brazilians settled into their "normal" rhythm. The lead was extended to two in the 72nd minute when Abuda scored another goal, recieving the ball from Evandro, who led a strong counterattack in the face of a pounding foward moving Columbian squad.
Spain 3-2 Argentina
Argentina, the only team to go undefeated in the group stages, went off to a blazing start. Their very first attack was met with success as Ezequiel Garay nodded in a header off a corner kick, making the score 1-0 in the 3rd minute. The Spaniards led a counterattack nearly scoring with captain Francis recieving the ball from a corner and ready to shoot the equalizer, but the shot came too late. Despite repeated attempts by Spain to even the score, the Argentinians fought back and doubled their lead (2-0) in the 31st minute, off another header. After the half time break, Spain came out eager to get back into the game and got their chance. 3 minutes after the beginning of the 2nd half, Cesc curled the ball skillfully into the corner of the goal making the score 2-1. After the injury of the Arg. captain Biglia, a pivotal force in their success, the Spaniards simply dominated, leveling the score 2 minutes after Biglia retired. Fate went against Argentina once again, when Cardoza was sent off for a dangerous sliding tackle, magnifying an already growing problem for the South Americans. With both sides even and normal time over, the two teams battled it out for the golden goal. The decisive shot came again from Cesc in the 117th minute, who beat his man to the penalty area and slammed the ball into the top corner of the goal
Columbia will play Argentina to decide the 3rd and 4th positions (the match is today!) while Brazil and Spain will duke it out for 1st and 2nd place

Final Results
3rd place match:
Argentina 1-1 Columbia (Arg. wins on penalties 5-4)
The Argentinians showed their style early on in the game as they did in the previous match against Spain. Diego Lagos put away the cross from Lucas D'Alegre, putting Argentina up 1-0 in the fourth minute. The Columbians mounted a massive counterattack, maintaining dominance for the for the rest of the half, and though the squad had several chances to equalize, they were not able to convert. The attack continued as the 2nd half began, and success found the Columbians as Ramos was fouled inside the penalty area. Hidalgo put it away easily, making the score 1-1 in the 52nd minute. Both sides fought to gain the lead but could never seize the opportunities and the match went into a penalty shootout. After a couple of great saves, Argentina earned a 3rd place title in the Under 17 World Championships.
1&2nd place:
Brazil 1-0 Spain
1st: Brazil
2nd: Spain
Both teams showed their skill in the highly contested match. Brazil captured the lead when captain Joao curled the ball with a great free kick that deflected off the post right into the path of teammate Leonardo, who promptly smashed the ball into the top of the net. The rest of the match found the Spaniards fighting to even up the score. Real Madrid MF Jurado had a chance in the 54th minute, sneaking by the previously invincible Brazilian defense, but missing the shot by inches. Each team traded off shot after shot. Even until the end, the Spanish squad sought to gain par footing as Cesc broke through- only to shoot straight into the keeper's waiting arms.
Brazil wins the Championship for the 3rd time.
