go into track 1, and right click > insert > wave from file to insert the beat.
in track 2, click the circled red R button, which sets the track that will be recorded to.

click the record button and spit/sing your verse, and click stop when your finished. after that its time to clean up the audio. here's a good tutorial on what to do to get it polished:
http://capheine0.tripod.com/part2.html
if you wanna do background vocals, etc, just follow the steps for track 2 and record to different blank track. but make sure deselect a filled track for recording by clicking the red R again, otherwise you'll record over the old acapella. when you're polishing the audio make sure you normalize it to a lower percentage then track 2 (use whatever meets your needs), otherwise the audio will come out distorted and pop a lot.
when you're all done recording and editing the audio, select edit > mix down > all waves. this will create a new waveform with your acapella(s) mixed into the beat. save the mixdown and your finished. you can also choose to save the session and all the waveforms if you like.
anyway, just a quick tutorial on the basics of recordin, hope its helpful. peace -
