Question Fraternities and Sororities

well, i just wanna ask you guys about college life.
Coz i'm gonna be an upcoming freshman in Univ. of Michigan- ann arbor. and i really don't know where i wanna live.
of course i'm gonna live in the dorm for first year, but i really wanna live somewhere else for second year.
I'm considering to just rent an apartment with a friend, but i'm not sure if i really want to live on my own like that
so i'm thinking of joining sororities.
but how does it really work? have anybody been in a fraternity or sorority?
Tell me the pros and cons of it. thnx

thats cool, i'm applying there like next month. My brother is in a fraternity, Phi Chi. I have no idea how it everything works, but it seems pretty tight. He gets his housing, which is hella good...like an apartment with all this extra stuff (60-some inch tv, 4 comps in the main place, i don't know what it's called), anyway he gets it free somehow i believe...thats what he says i think. His Pre-med roommate moved out so he has the place to himself now, his friend is moving in soon. Anyway, that probably didn't help that much...seems like a lot of pros from his experience, he doesn't usually hang out with all the other frat guys though.

my sister went to u of m and moved out of the dorms her 2nd or 3rd year, I'm not sure actually. But she got an apartment with some of her friends from the dorm and she really liked it a lot.
If you don't want to be on your own like that, you could just have a lot of roommates, ann arbor's a nice town with a lot to offer,

With a sorority you will meet a lot of people, and there will be lots of time to party, but you will be really busy, and it can be kind of draining. But if you're up to it, it can be a really rewarding experience, at least, so I'm told.

be careful listening to psychosnowman though, his brother lies a lot. i'm serious.
