if money wasnt a factor, i would get a sony vaio grx590.
processor: Pentium 4 1.7 GHz-M
lcd screen: 16.1" UXGA (1600x1200)
memory: 512mb DDR SDRAM
harddrive: 40 GB
graphic card: ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7500 w/32 MB
optical: CD-RW/DVD combo
software: Win XP Home Edition and Word 2002
price: $3099.99
its the best they come in. ultra portabile, sexy, and powerful. the only drawback is its price, but you won't find a 16" lcd screen in any other laptop brands. if i only had the money...
dont get a compaq
oh yeah pentium 4 sux. go for amd 'hammer' if it's out
amd's hammer technology is a hybird between 32bit and next generation 64bit processors. there's two products, one which will maintain the athlon brand (clawhammer) while opteron (sledgehammer) will be for server and corporate markets. they should be available in the first quarter of next year.
and pentium4s do not "suck." the reasons they might not perform as well as an athlonxp running todays software is because sse2 isnt widely incorporated. once sse2 optimized software is widely available, p4s and athlonxp should be at par. but then again, athlons are far more attractive, considering that theyre half the price.
...but yea. stick with the vaio. its a beauty.
