Would u Join the ARMY over a game?

I was recently reading my new PC Gamer. They say the government is spending our tax $$$ to make a game in order to interest more young people into joining the army! No more Spike Lee directed NAVY videos. Instead we get a FPS!

personally I don't think ANYONE would want to join the army over a game. That's like saying you'll become a terrorist because u play couter-strike.


But whatever.... (BTW: I shot a REAL UZI over the memorial weekend. So cool! Ahhh... the joys of being a boy scout!)

i had the chance of going to a rifle range with my boy scouts but i quit before i could...i sorta regret it know..but i learned how to tie a really good knot.

(with the uzi, did you do burst shots or did you just spray bullets at your target? it'd be pretty cool if they let you just waste a full clip on a target 2 ft in front of you. btw, if you ever get to fire a shotgun, bring a lot of ice. it hurts like a bitch.)

yes i know what game ur talkin about. its american army or something like that. it was at E3 2002 u can read about it on ign. it looks like a crappy version of ghost recon or something. hell i dunno about koreans but heck i kno those crazy white cocky kids may.

The game does look OK. Could use work.

i don't think i would join the army over a game. i'd probably join because of the money and tons of benefits. if i joined, then my college would be completely paid for. that's tight.

i wouldn't join it over a game, but i saw some pics and stuff on it and it looks pretty good. Who's actually making it? The Army then? Seems weird that they'd just be able to make that good looking of a game without any outside help.

Anyway,I don't see why if they want to recruit people through video games they don't just say "see Metal Gear Series" or something heh. Cause Snake is pretty cool.

I think it's just more for publicity though anyway.

Metal Gear wasn't about the Army was it? It was about a tank. And the character that you play as is a Foxhound member. (except for the beginning of MGS2 Snake was in Philanthropy)

yeah, but it deals with army-esque aspects. Like on the Metal Gear Ray you have to take a picture of the US Marines logo on it, and the whole feel of it is some type of military theme that could connotate to pretty much any military branch of the US or any country. I just thought the feel of it was pandemic enough that it could be promoter for the army as well. I mean, your sneaking around everywhere and stuff. It'd be like a "be like snake" i suppose for a promoter.

hmm i guess so, but who would believe that everyone in the army goes sneaking around like that?

i saw the review for this game in PC GAMER damn it looks nice..designed to compete with counter-strike and better games that retail for $50 and more..the coolest thing is this game is FREE!!! yea FREE!

and another good thing is the graphics engine is some kind of really advanced quake iii engine.

they send it to you over mail (not email but actual mail).

thats a reason why im hesitant to get it. Sure, they have your address anyway, but if you order a game, to the Army it probably indicates that you're actually interested in joining the Army and are up for future recruitment. :sad:

it's a free game, which is a good thing because they had a budget of $7 million U.S. to make it, of taxpayer's money heh.
