"NEW YORK, September 1 – NEW YORK, Sept. 3 —Now that Adidas has finally opened one of its megastore meccas in the U.S. — New York's SoHo, to be precise—sneaker fiends won't have to get out their passports or beg elusive distributors for rare examples of the legendary footwear. And with 3,700 plus square feet to play in, casual (read: not fanatic) aficionados can discover a whole new world of the German brand's merchandise, including refreshed classics like cracked leather sneakers and baby blue ballet slippers. The predicted hit of the season? Replica track suits of the former Soviet Union's Olympic team.

The store opened for business this weekend, but the big opening party is Wednesday night, when Adidas breaks out the obligatory turntables and sneaker-sporting deejays. Dress code: no Nikes.
