For the sake of discussion, why does that really matter? He doesn't make a penny off of record sales, it's only the record company that profits from record sales. He's only affected by the possibility of his album going gold, platinum, etc. which it will anyways. Eddie downloading the album will have a negligible impact, and he always has the option of buying the album after previewing it first anyways.

i always thought artists get a fraction of the sales from cd's, like how HOT used to get like 400won per cd sold or whatever.

Anyway, i don't care about supporting any big star to begin with. They really don't even need to make music anymore, their whole image selling like crazy, moreso than their music. Yeah, i'm bashing Jay-Z's music, i don't like it and think it's nothing higher than mediocrity...meaning it's decent. Now, if it's someone other than that like an artist rerecording vivaldi or something, i'll buy that, i'm sure they really don't get a lot to begin with.
