Better to have loved?

"Better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all." --Saint Augustine

face the facts, that quote only applies if and only if the person who has loved and lost has learned something valuable about himself and others in the process of the relationship. If one cannot discover his/her strengths, weaknesses, and faults so that he/she may become a better partner in the future, then it is better if that person had never loved at all... relationships are a waste of time for anyone unless you simply live and learn from your mistakes.

that's a way of looking at it, and i agree with that. But, i believe you are overlooking that st. augustine could have said that in his love for love. As in he loved the essence of it, and didn't simply implicate that progression be a requisite of it to have be such a great thing. For instance, it is better to have lived and died than to never have lived at all. The feeling is worth it alone.

i also agree but i would like 2 add to it. u like a person but u dont tell them or anything. then that person moves away or somethin like that. then thinking could hav, should hav, etc. sux. dont do somethin u r goin 2 regret.

when you lose something like that, hopefully you learn something from it.
More experience (not sexual neccessarily) can make a person have a more clear vision of what they want in their mate.
