Better to break bones than sprain ankles
Introduction first
Bones: Extremely active tissue despite its inert appearance. Has numerous blood vessels running through, and cells are constantly rebuilding, resorbing, and depositing bone. Very tough due to inorganic salts (ie calcium)
Cartilage: Elastic tissue found in areas that need cushions and shock absorption. No blood vessels. Nourished by blood found in surrounding tissues through diffusion.
I'm not recommending anyone to break bones on PURPOSE, but when bones regrow, they grow back stronger than before. Also, they heal a lot faster than cartilage. When an ankle is sprained, the cartilage that binds it is snapped. That cartilage repairs slow compare to bone (because bone has a good supply of blood and cartilage has a poor supply). Also, cartilage wears down with time. In extreme cases, surgery is needed to provide replacements for worn down cartilage

At the police station this weapons expert told us it was better to be shot than stabbed. FMJ rounds wound could be repaired more easily than a knife wound. Also bullet proof vests don't protect against knives.
Amen to that, redoubt. I had three fractures in my foot and completely tore a ligament, but I didn't know that until about six weeks later. I started running two weeks later, but I had to start going on the bike when I still felt a dull pain, nothing too painful.
Shizzles dude, that was 8/4/02. Today it's 12/26/02, and I'm going to see the doctor's on January 8th and hopefully get my tibial walker removed. Heck yeah, those sprains heal slowly.
so bones heal faster than sprains?

ooh yeah that's interesting.
Ah, have you seen that orthodonic bone procedure? The one for dwarfs and the like. They have a metal instrument thing they have on your legs and arms or whatever, and its attached to your bones, and you have to keep cranking it periodically throughout the day. When you crank the instrument, it seperates the bone more so it has to heal, and they make bones longer that way. That sounds like it hurts soo much! haha. I saw it on ripley's believe it or not.

In my case, foot bones grow faster than ligaments, because the bones actually have blood supply. Heck, I was biking one week after, and running two weeks after. (I had a split fracture)
Dang it... I never thought I was going to break a bone myself, but look what happens when I'm careless!
how bout we dont get hurt period
sounds good?

Don't break your bones on purpose....
that ripley's thing doesn't seem safe
Gymnists have a lot of bone problems and stuff. Go check out them if you're interested on how bones heal and grow and whatnot.
