do your parents scare away friends?

juss wondering~

alotta pplz (frenz and cousins) say mai dad is scary but thaz juss cuz he duzn't like kids that aren't his haha so he's juss kinda distant and cold to other pplz. they think he's mean and scary but he's not at all. they juss hav to see the crazy side of him haha

heyitsdean's dad pops up out of nowhere and watches us vigilantly whenever we hang out. He also shouts at me when he's smashed.

But, yeah my parents scare off people....not to mention my whole family! It's so awkward and there's this hostility that is emanating from around them anytime someone comes over. Either they all crowd in a room or they shoot not good looks at the person and whisper something. They never say hi, if they do then they might not even make eye contact or look the direction of the person! It's really discouraging. My dad is not that talkative and is someone that everyone just laughs with at his bad jokes so as not to get him mad and so they don't give off a bad impression as it seems he would base it upon that or something, well not just becuase of that but othres as well. He connects on a superficial level. Anyway, my mom is really inviting to my friends, male ones anyway. She scares off female friends, it's really mean, one time someone was going to come over and i went to pick her up and then she called the house and wanted me to call her as soon as i got there, i did and then she's like "well, could you guys do hw over there? nobody likes it to tell you the truth when you are together at the house, it is a distraction." I thought that was utterly stupid cause we woudl be in my room anyway away from everyone else, but i can't convince rationality into a thought that had no rationale besides one of denial and moreso one of biggoting preference. Ugh, it's annoying. She's nice on face, but badmouths them when they leave...

-edit- oh yeah, my parents spy on us too, like heyitsdean, except they try and be secretive about it haha. When heyitsdean's dad does it he just comes and stands behind us. My mom or dad hide in this little out of view spot...

well I think just naturally even if hes not trying to my dad like intimidates all my guy friends haha their always like does ur dad not like me?? Im like no...lol my mom is all weird when other guys come over too thats why i like never invite them over because she doesnt like my guy friends for one reason or another...but with girl friends shes usually ok... so is my dad....THEY R SO ANNOYING!! lol

mai frend tiff (chinklilgirl) has asked me several times if mai dad likes her dun worri dear, he duzn't dislike anyone - let's say that. so many pplz get the impression that mai dad is mean and duzn't like them but thaz not it at all. i nevr understood y mai dad hates kids so much haha. i dun even understand why he wanted kids in the first place. hmm, other than that i guess they're pretti receptive...mai parents don't pay attention to mai frends and me if they're over and they're juss like whatever

edit: mai parents aren't receptive, but they're not unfriendly either. but i notice that pplz usualli don't ask if they can come to mai house after their first time haha

my mom used to be psycho whenever a girl would call the house. She'd ask who she was, how she knew me, what she does, what her parents do, etc. i yelled at her about that. One of my ex gf's actually like that tho. (maybe she's psycho too.) d=D

i was with my friends.. and then met up with my mom.. then my mom had her camcorder and started recording us.. all my friends were like and then she asked how are u.. haha.. they were like "um... fine" <-- inside they were thinking "omg.. omg" haha.
