Lack of it.

No one has shown interest or posted here for over a year.

Do you think that the nation/world is going towards less religion?

Or are we just producing crazies?

Sometimes I feel like I'm always on this roller coaster. I'm Christian. I believe there is a god. And that is God. Jesus was born and died on the cross to save me from my sins.

And I've been told all my life that that's all i need to believe in order to go to heaven.

I realized that in my life I've felt a lack of spirituality lately. In junior high I was pretty devout. But I recently went (invited sort of) to a retreat from a church that wasn't very... well strict. none of the kids brought Bibles... to a RETREAT. It was beyond me. Some of them didn't even have Bibles. was it just the church? or are games/fun/etc the only way we can draw children/the youth to religion?

Well, I've become much more religious in the past 18 months. I'm a Muslim, and after taking some classes in Arabic I really liked the poetic beauty of the Qur'an, so that got me to read more of it in Arabic and try to think about it more often, and of course that would just get me thinking about Islam as a whole in more depth.

That's because barely anyone has even posted on these forums as a whole for the past year.

Well, the last presidential election showed that the "religious right" is still really strong in America. I don't know if it's just that those who are not religious are also more politically apathetic, but it definitely seems like there's a strong "Christian conservative" base down south.

It's tough to really get a sense of scale when it comes to thinking about things like this. Are we talking religion declining on a year to year basis, or a generation to generation basis? I'm sure there are statistics out there that would tell one way or the other; my prediction would be that it is simply cyclical. (When I say cyclical, I'm thinking along the lines of following economic cycles, but not exactly. When the markets are really, really booming, people won't really feel like they need God, and when they're really, really bad, people will feel like there can't be a God if there's so much poverty and hunger. But during the moderate times, people will be a bit more religious.)
