i suppose it's all been covered above, but i'll post my opinions anyhow.
'Volcano High' sucked. big time and for a number of reasons.
First, MTV tried to make it appeal to their general audience by changing it, and those changes did not work at all. The voice acting stank. Andre 3000 cannot voice act or maybe even read properly. The dubbing for Jang Yang was terrible, as was the kendo chick (played laughably by Mya). The only good voice over was the 'evil' principal. The most greivous problem with the dubbing was the way that the voices were ALWAYS THE SAME VOLUME. They were always in the foreground and therefore did not really fit into the actual film. Make it easier on yourself and just add in some subtitles for crap's sake.
MTV also saw the need to add in a "cool, hip" soundtrack. This was completely unnecessary and flopped.
Second, the 'movie' itself had flaws. Sure, the film quality was good, and the special effects rendering had no real problems- but, the story itself was lame. 98% of the movie was a buildup to the final scene and usually consisted of scenes of Kim or the other kids running around screaming or getting their asses pushed around. After the new teachers come in Kim continues on with his wimpy ways, and still is a wimp even in the 'final showdown.' He spends 98% of that fight getting tossed around like a ragdoll, screaming, trying to stand up, and promptly getting his ass kicked. Then suddenly, he says that stupid line about water again, becomes powerful, and kicks ass. Give me a break.
The only good part about 'volcano high' is Shin Mina.
