Super-smooth recording star Barry White is no stranger to love. His chart-topping tunes have been making women (and men) swoon for decades.

White, who counseled neighborhood couples at age 14, knew years ago what today's relationship experts (not to mention Ally McBeal) are telling us: It's not just the sex -- it's the intimacy. So how does Barry suggest you pump up the romance? We spoke with him to find out. Here are his top tips for adding more love to your life:

Set the Mood
When you want to set the mood, a romantic song is a must. Play one of Barry's five favorites and watch the parks fly:

For Barry, a woman is most attractive when she is "well-spoken, intelligent and stylish -- without being flashy" and doesn't overdo the perfume. But, he says, all men are different. "Not every man is looking for the same thing in a woman."

Barry White died this morning. (7/4/03)

"White, who had suffered kidney failure from years of high blood pressure, died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center around 9:30 a.m., said manager Ned Shankman. He was 58."
