Third-Graders Nabbed for Dealing Drugs
(Katrillion) -- Two Florida third-graders were found with 15 small bags of marijuana (which contained approximately 16 grams of the drug in total) and are now facing felony charges.
Cafeteria workers at Rivers Edge Elementary School told Port St. Lucie police that a 9 year-old boy showed them a bag of something that appeared to be pot, reports CNN.com.
According to the police report, the boy was carrying 12 bags of marijuana. He admitted that he tried to sell some of these bags to another third-grader. A second boy was later found with three bags, and he told police he got them from the first boy on the bus.
Both boys were charged with possession of marijuana, a felony since it happened on school grounds. The boy who had 12 bags will also be charged with intent to distribute. Police estimate the drugs to be worth about $75.
The boys have been suspended for 10 days and may also be expelled under the school district's zero-tolerance policy for drugs.
In an unrelated story, a 4 year-old girl brought her teacher a small bag of marijuana as a gift. When her teacher asked where she got the gift, the girl replied, "from mommy." The Department of Social Services in Holyoke, Mass., is looking into the incident as a possible case of child abuse.

is this the parents' fault?
