i did not even read anything besides the first sentence, but love is not the collective consensus we make of it. It is different to different people. Poststructuralism. you cannot tell him he definitively does not know what love is, the same way he cannot tell you it with any credibility because language cannot be agreed upon, and thereby can never be definate.
Your friend's "love" is your "like." Ask him what he thinks "liking" a girl means then. He probably has a difference, just he does not think of love as highly as most people.
