there's been a topic like this, so i won't type everything out again, but it is an anime. Look for a thread about pokemon being an anime or not.
Basically waht it comes down to is that the japanese decide if it's anime...since when did american get to endorse their own subjective (very) definition as to whether something is anime or not...it's not even our term. They would know best. And since anime is basically any animated series in japan...DBZ is definitely an anime. It's as simple as that, anything the "underground" diehard otakus say is stupid...why is something not an anime just because they say so? They can't even define it. The subjectivity is what makes this questionable...nothing else. DBZ isn't americanized at all...tell me how. Oh wait, dammit...it's translated. You are right, it is americanized (sarcasm). And yes, perhaps some violence and such was taken out, but that really doesn't make it "americanized." If anything, it is censored anime if you want to go that far, i wouldn't.
