Wii Software
* Monster Hunter 3 will be released for Wii
* Nintendo is developing Super Mario Stadium Baseball (tenative title) for Wii

* Mario Kart Wii will introduce motorcycles to the gameplay and ship during Spring 2008
* Wii Fit will be released in Japan on December 1 at the retail price of 8,800 Yen

* Nintendo announced Pokemon Bokujou, or Pokemon Farm. This WiiWare title will allow players to transfer their DS Pokemon to Wii and raise them in a farm-like environment
* New editions of Star Soldier R, Mojipittan Wii (popular puzzle game from Bandai-Namco) and Doctor Mario will be released on WiiWare

-------------------
Nintendo has announced the November 2007 release of two new Wii Channels for Japan: the Mii Contest Channel and the Minna no Nintendo Channel (Everyone's Nintendo Channel).

The Mii Contest Channel will allow users to present their Miis to the world. The channel will feature a large plaza in which Miis can mingle, with users able to take the Miis of other people to their own console's plaza. A contest mode in which Miis are judged by users will also be available.

The Minna no Nintendo Channel (Everybody's Nintendo Channel) is the Wii implementation of Nintendo's DS Station retail kiosks. Users will be able to view promotional videos of upcoming titles and download DS game demos to their handheld. The channel will also include search features to assist in finding games.

America, Europe, and other regions will receive these channels at a later date.

------------------
Numerous publishers revealed their initial WiiWare titles during and following a Nintendo conference in Japan. Worldwide President of Nintendo Satoru Iwata disclosed that over 100 WiiWare proposals have been made by various developers during the company's Fall conference. The upcoming WiiWare service will allow users to download original software titles to their Wii console. "We've already received proposals for over 100 titles from software development companies," Iwata said. "We've made a platform for developing software at low cost, and would like to offer a new business chance based around a battle of ideas." He didn't state how many of those proposals have been accepted, nor did he use the opportunity to reveal pricing details for WiiWare software. A list of confirmed titles and their respective details has been compiled below.

Pokemon Ranch: Transfer Pokemon from Diamond and Pearl to Wii and raise them in a farm-like environment with Miis. Players can take pictures and send them to friends.

Dr. Mario: Use your Miis and challenge friends via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in this WiiWare remake of Doctor Mario. The game will also include a four-player edition of Saikin Bokumetsu from the Japanese version of Brain Age 2.

Maruboushikaku: A puzzle game with a theme based around three patterns -- maru (circle), bou (line) and shikaku (square). Three windows, each focusing on one of these patterns, will be displayed simultaneously. Player actions in one window will have a bearing on the other windows. The game will support single- and three-player modes.

Minna de Puzzloop: Released in America under the name of Magnetica, this version will use the Wii Remote for direct control and feature co-operative and competitive play for up to four people.

Okiraku Ping Pong Wii: This ping pong title will offer a challenge mode, in which players can earn items by competing in five mini-games, and a four-player split-screen doubles mode. Players will be able to choose between automatic and manual movement for swings. Top spin, back spin, smashes and other shots will be possible based on how players swing the Wii Remote.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Little King and the Promised Country: This "Country Building RPG" takes place soon after the events of the original Crystal Chronicles title for GameCube. Players will assume the role of a young monarch who must use the power of crystals to restore his fallen kingdom. It is unknown how the gameplay will compare to other Crystal Chronicles games. The title is expected to be released for 1,500 Wii Points alongside the Japanese launch of the WiiWare service in March.

Star Soldier R: Few details are known except that this game is a 3D vertical shooter and will be released during Spring 2008.

Mojipittan Wii: A new entry in Bandai Namco's popular series of puzzle games.

Bomberman: The game will be a new entry in the franchise, and release during Spring 2008, but no other details are known.

Joy Sound: The WiiWare version of the Joysound karaoke machine. The service will feature periodically updated music downloads, mini-games and more, replicating a full karaoke machine at home. Publisher Hudson will release a USB microphone, although it is unknown if the game will also support generic USB microphones. Joy Sound will released during Spring 2008 in Japan.

----------------
Wii Music will combine motions and button presses on both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to control a six-member Mii band. Forty instruments will be available in the single- and multiplayer modes. Solo players can either control four band members simultaneously or regulate the computer to the other musicians. The musical content of the game is currently unknown.

Nintendo first presented Wii Music at E3 2005, with the demo version allowing gamers to conduct a large orchestra. Although players will still be able to conduct in the game, it is unknown if the large-scale performances will remain.

Wii Music is expected to ship in Japan sometime in 2008. A release date for other territories has not been provided.

----------------

This will be one event not to miss! Mario vs. Sonic, the match of the ages.

If we head over to Smash Bros. DOJO, we'll find some new updates including Sonic's specials:
Side Special: Spin Dash

Down Special: Spin Charge

Up Special: Spring Jump

Brawl now has a feature that lets you capture screenshots of the game while in pause. The photos are kept in an album. You either save to your Wii internal memory or an SD card. You may also send them to your Brawl buddies.
There is a blurred out icon that may or may not be implemented, but it's under development.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been delayed until February 10th of 2008 for America.

Flash Focus: Vision Training in Minutes a Day

REDMOND, Wash., Oct. 15, 2007 - The new Flash Focus™: Vision Training in Minutes a Day is like nothing you've ever seen before. Just as Nintendo's brain-training games gave your gray matter a workout, Flash Focus aims to train users' eyes in areas like hand-eye coordination, peripheral vision and visual acuity. It launches today, exclusively for Nintendo DS™.

It might sound like a strange concept, but top athletes have long used high-tech computerized visual training programs to give them an edge on the baseball diamond, basketball court and football field. Now Nintendo makes this remarkable technology available to anyone who wants to have fun while tracking improvements in the various visual exercises. It's a great tool for moms who like to keep a "peripheral vision" watch on their kids or for people who want an edge spotting holiday sales.

"Flash Focus represents another one of our software titles that delivers fun with a purpose," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Flash Focus should be in the training arsenal of every coach in the country, but it's also ideal for casual game players of any age who want to keep their vision sharp."

The first time users pop in Flash Focus: Vision Training in Minutes a Day, they take a series of tests to determine their DS Eye Age. As users spend a few minutes each day with the activities, they get better and better at the exercises and their Eye Age lowers to demonstrate their improved focus abilities.

Some of the many fun activities in Flash Focus: Vision Training in Minutes a Day include:

* A variation of the hidden ball "hat dance" seen at baseball parks: A circle is placed in one of three boxes, and the user must follow the location of the circle as the boxes shuffle rapidly on the screen.

* Watching two symbols flash on the screen, then tapping the touch screen to indicate whether they matched.

* Memorizing a target letter and counting how many times it appears in a fast-moving stream of letters on the screen.

Publisher Capcom announced the Wii port of PlayStation 2 title Okami.

"Players will now be able to directly manipulate the in-game Celestial Brush by literally drawing on the game world itself, thereby altering the physical properties - whether by creating pathways, chopping down trees, or turning night into day," said Michael Pattison, senior director of marketing for Capcom Europe. "The world, in essence, becomes a virtual canvas for Wii owners."

It will be developed by Ready at Dawn Studios who are also known for Daxter [PSP] and is currently at work on God of War: Chains of Olympus [PSP].

"In accordance with our tradition of only working on games we'd like to play, we're proud to announce that we are taking after Clover Studio to bring this incredible game to the platform it was always meant to be on in the first place," said Ready at Dawn.

Okami earned much critical acclaim upon release last year, but did not find the same retail success. No word on whether Capcom will include new content at a lower price point (like Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition).
The game is expected to be released during Spring 2008.

Wii kiosks will now be getting tethered controllers. With the Wiimote and Nunchuk attached to the kiosk, you won't need to be asked for ID to be play to play. GameStop/EB, GameCrazy, and any other game retailer with a Wii floor unit should be getting in Super Mario Galaxy to demo. It will be the full version of the game but you have a 10-minute session.

Here's a list for the next batch of DS demos/videos that you will be able to grab from DS Download Stations. This is a pretty big update.

Brain Age 2 Demo
2 Phantom Hourglass videos
Ninja Gaiden DS demo
Contra IV demo
MySims demo
Cooking Mama 2 demo

Picross demo
Planet Puzzle League demo
High School Musical demo
My Word Coach demo
Worms: Open Warfare 2 demo
Jam Sessions demo
Spider-man: Friend or Foe demo

Pokemon Battle Revolution video
Bee Movie video
Transformers video

Smash Bros. DOJO!! released a few interesting updates including:
Stadium: Home-Run Contest, a competition to see who can hit Sandbag the farthest in just ten seconds (supports 2P on online)

Controls on Wii Remote (single, sideways)

Reminder that you can use 4 styles of controllers in Brawl.

Meowth (from Pokemon) is back in Brawl from the first Super Smash Bros. [N64] after a absence in Melee.

Also making a surprising appearance is Little Mac [from Puch-Out!! (NES)]. He will fill as an assist trophy.

It's great to see 8-bit NES characters returning in 3D form (incl. Pit from Kid Icarus).

Peach's Final Smash: Peach Blossom sends players asleep while she dances and peaches fall down.

Finally today's update was a new stage: PictoChat which is a fun little sketch-and-chat software with wireless functionality that's built into the Nintendo DS.

The doodles that appear will disappear after a while, and then something else will get drawn.
Oh, and on this stage, you’ll also be able to enjoy Mii Channel music and Wii Shop Channel music, too.

Confirmed via the new issue 222 of Nintendo Power [Dec. 07], SEGA announced the development of Samba de Amigo exclusively for Wii which will follow in the footsteps of the original version back on the Sega Dreamcast. The game "helped to create the now-popular rhythm music genre," according to SEGA, spawning the likes of Guitar Hero, DrumMania, Rock Band, etc. Players will assume the role of the sombrero-wearing monkey Amigo and play along to a soundtrack comprised of popular songs and "fan-favorites from the original."

Players will shake the Wii Remote and Nunchuk like maracas in time with the on-screen beats of the music. Like the original, Samba de Amigo on Wii will emphasize vibrant stages, colorful characters and party play. The full song list and special features will be unveiled in the coming months.

"The Wii's controllers enable players to enjoy Samba De Amigo's unique gameplay without having to purchase an expensive peripheral," said Rick Naylor, Director of Marketing at SEGA. "Between the music, the quirky art style, and the maraca-shaking players, Samba De Amigo is as much fun to watch as it is to play."

The game will be developed by Gearbox Software and is planned a release for Spring 2008 in North America and Europe.

The official NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams site has launched, with a couple of interesting tidbits. The first is that, as with Brawl, players will have four options for control: Wiimote, Wiimote + Nunchuk, Classic Controller, and Gamecube Controller. They also detail that the WFC functionality will involve being able to check out other players' "My Dream" setups, as well as two player-races. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams hits stateside December 18th, 2007.

Last Tuesday, Atlus presented a new game trailer and various tutorials as part of Trauma Center: New Blood's Tuesday update incl. more insight into the surgeries, characters, destinations, and two-player Co-Op mode. The tutorials give further details on how tools like the laser, forceps, and ultrasound will work.

Netherlands-based developer Engine Software announced its status as an official Wii developer.

No Wii projects are currently in the works, but the Engine Software intends to explore the possibilities for retail and WiiWare games. The company will also attempt to recreate its key technology on Wii, including the licensable Music & Sound Replayer already available for Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS.

Engine Software, established in 1995, is the Netherlands' longest-running game developer. The studio has worked on Nintendo platforms since the Super NES and been involved with over 60 published titles.

Nintendo Worldwide President Satoru Iwata announced that the Wii would be sold in China starting next year. He also reaffirmed an earlier statement made by Nintendo of America's Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communication George Harrison that a price cut on the console will not occur in the foreseeable future.

"We're still focusing on how to meet booming demand," Iwata said. "We're absolutely not considering a price cut." Nintendo is currently producing about 1.8 million Wii consoles per month, but Iwata noted the inevitability of a supply crunch during the holiday season.

Nintendo has shipped 13.2 million Wii units worldwide since the console's launch late last year. Retailer estimates pin the amount sold to be over 10 million units.

"We barely have enough [Wii consoles] to meet global demand this year. But next year, we can bring the Wii to China," Iwata continued, also mentioning that Nintendo needs to work with Chinese game developers to create games suitable for that market.

--------
Satoru Iwata has also unveiled plans to introduce new functionality to Japanese Wii owners next spring, TV Guide Channel. Although Nintendo did not provide official titles for said functionality, users will gain access to a television schedule channel and have the ability to send downloaded games to friends for free.

The television schedule channel will act as an interactive guide that helps people plan out their TV watching. No word on the channel costing any Wii Points.

Wii owners will be able to send downloaded games to their registered friends as free gifts. When the recipient accepts, the Wii Shop Channel will automatically launch and begin the download. "We think this will be a breakthrough in encouraging customers to spread news of fun games word of mouth," Iwata said. "We also hope to spur more users to connect their [Wii consoles] to the Internet."

Iwata did not state if these new functions will become available outside of Japan.

--------
Speaking of TVs, if anyone remembers there will be a Digital TV Tuner for the DS.
Set for Japanese release on 11/20 at a price of 6,800 yen, the tuner will be formally known as "1seg Receiver Adapter DS Television." It attaches to the DS software slot, and has rotatable antenna unit sticking out from the top. It will be compatible with both the standard DS and DS Lite.

Video footage is displayed in a 256 x 192 format, a bit lower than the 320 x 240 format of the 1seg spec.

The wii really expanded the video game market to the mainstream more than any other system beforehand. It has more hype than the N64 back in its day.

Yesterday, the Check Mii Out Channel, a new Wii channel that allows users to post their Mii online so others can view them, went live. It's available to download for free now from the WiiWare section of the Wii Shop.

The Check Mii Out Channel features an online hub called the Posting Plaza. Users can submit their Mii to the Posting Plaza, and then browse or search for other Miis by region or worldwide. Users can also import them from the Posting Plaza onto their own Wii consoles.

There's a contest section of that lets you submit a Mii that represent a specific person, character or theme. Each contest will last two weeks: one for creating and submitting Miis, and the second week for people to vote on the results.

The current theme for the contest right now is Mario without a cap. You have 6 days left to submit.

*Miis are three-dimensional characters that can be created on the Mii Channel of every Wii console. Miis are tied to player profiles in some games for keeping track of stats, progress, and high scores. Miis can also be used as playable characters in some games including Wii Sports, Wii Play, and MLB Power Pros.

The A-LIFE will multiply, learn and evolve as players interact with them and leave objects in their world.

My Dream will also utilize the Wii Forecast Channel. If thunderstorms are brewing in a player's local area, then thunderstorms will also occur while playing My Dream.

2-Player mode will let you play with a friend offline as well as online in a particular region to race or battle each other over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. No word if you could only battle registered friends or random people.

• Wii News & Updates 2007.11.19

First off, let us celebrate Wii's first birthday!

A year ago today, the Nintendo Wii was unleashed to fans across the United States. What started as an uphill battle has turned into a landslide victory. The Wii has sold over 13.8 million units to date, making it the fastest selling console in history, and shows no signs of slowing.

I remember when I was waiting in line for one during initial launch. At 6:15 AM in the morning I call up my best bud, and we went off to BestBuy. We could see there was already a line. I even remember my number in line: 74! I was told there were 100 Wiis in stock so my chances were good of course. Pop out my DS Lite to keep busy. Friend buys me breakfast from McDonald's. Store opens at 8 AM and it's go time. Anticipation as we proceed closer to our goal in an orderly fashion. Look at all the available accessories, grabbed me a Zelda game, RedSteel and onto the checkout where they handed me a blue and white #74 Wii box. Yes, yes, swipes card, sign, held up my bag with pride, out the door and raced down the sidewalk to the lot. I could tell the guy I ran pass by was laughing, but hey! I don't wanna get shot or knifed, haha. Took me 5 hours until I finally got to play, mostly just troubleshooting the wireless internet. But once I got that over with, it was bliss from then on. Popped in Wii Sports and it was FRESH~! The sounds and design interface was superb quality. Too bad, I don't have pictures of that first day. Maybe I'll reenact it when I buy a second one some day.

Ok, now on to today's new releases of classic games on the Wii Shop's Virtual Console.

The Wii Zapper is a gun shell peripheral for the Wii Remote. The name is a reference to the NES Zapper light gun for the Nintendo Entertainment System. According to an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, the idea of a Zapper-type expansion formed when the Wii Remote was first created. He stated that "What we found is that the reason we wanted to have a Zapper is when you hold a Wii Remote, it can be difficult for some people to keep a steady hand. And holding your arm out like that can get your arm somewhat tired. The peripheral is compatible with third-party titles such as Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, Ghost Squad and Medal of Honor: Heroes 2.

• Wii News & Updates 2007.11.26

Crazy week of Thanksgiving and Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales! I just finished up Portal (part of the The Orange Box package), and it's easily my favorite game at the moment. The quality of the puzzles are very much like Zelda puzzles. I've uploaded a video capture playing the final stages on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWMg9-I8Jdo
Word on the street say that Portal will be coming out for Wii also. If so, I hope they would include some bonus exclusive levels or even maybe a multi-player feature if that's possible.

The Everybody's Nintendo Channel went live for Japanese Wii owners a few days ago. Users can download game previews and video interviews, as well as send DS game demos to their handheld(s). Branches of Nintendo outside Japan have not stated if the Everybody's Nintendo Channel will be released in their respective territories.
Japanese Wii owners are also expected to receive a TV guide feature in the near future.

Japan also saw their launch for Wii Fit. Basically they're crazy about it over there with lines outside electronic stores. Let's see if we Americans can show the same support for this new innovative title and device. Currently taking the #1 spot at Amazon.co.jp, sold out everywhere. It's even doing better sales than Super Mario Galaxy in Japan.

Nikitova Games has confirmed to be working on a couple more titles for Wii and DS.

CCTV will see players assuming the role of a surveillance officer using Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and police cars to catch criminals. Gamers will begin as a mall security guard and gradually rise to the position of International Head of Security as they travel the world searching for instances of crime. CCTV will allow two players to co-operate or compete in an effort to clean up the streets.

Mind Games will feature 21 mini-games based upon the Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automated Battery (CANTAB) of "computeribrainized" tests. The game will support one to two players.

Creative Director for Kuju Entertainment Tancred Dyke-Wells spoke with Web site VideoGamer.com about third-party Wii titles, stating that they don't "really don't take full advantage of the machine."
Dyke-Wells acknowledged the benefit of extra development time granted by Nintendo, but noted, "We're not the only title who's had our development extended. I think it's applied to those other big guns too. That's all about respect for the consumer really and for their own stuff."
Despite "running the juice out of the Wii" with Battalion Wars 2, Dyke-Wells revealed that Kuju Entertainment is working on a number of unannounced projects that are "continuing to advance the graphical standards" on Nintendo's home console.
BWii (Battalion Wars II) released on October 29 in North America and is expected to ship in other territories next year.

More details on Ghostbusters: The Game

Red Fly Studios, the developer for the Wii and PlayStation 2 versions, plans to incorporate more cartoon-like graphics into those editions. The Wii version will feature the same storyline and much of the same gameplay as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, however. Red Fly Studios has not stated how the Wii's functionality will be utilized.
Multiplayer will include a two-versus-two battle mode, a "damage-as-much-as-possible" mode and a domination mode where the players can challenge each other over artifacts. Several mini-games will also be available.
Publisher Sierra Entertainment expects to release Ghostbusters: The Video Game during Christmas 2008.

Japanese magazine Famitsu has revealed the first details about JAWA: The Mammoth and the Mysterious Stone , one of the originally announced Wii titles. This prehistoric life simulation from publisher Spike will allow players to control a caveman.
Like Nintendo's own Animal Crossing series, Jawa: Mammoth Secret will include cartoon-like graphics in addition to day and night cycles. Up to four players will be able to share a settlement and communicate with each other through certain messaging features.
Spike has set the game's release window in Japan for March 2008. Mammoth Secret has not been confirmed for other territories. The website for the game is also now open!

• Wii News & Updates 2007.12.10

Get ready to celebrate the arrival of a bunch of fun new features on the Wii™ Shop Channel. This week marks the debut of the first Pokémon® game for the Virtual Console: Pokémon Snap™, which originally was a hit on Nintendo® 64. This Pokémon photographic adventure comes with a special Wii bonus: It now includes a special feature that allows players to post pictures they take in the game to their Wii Message Board and send them to friends with whom they've traded Friends Codes.

And let’s not ignore the other sure-to-please titles: Ghosts’n Goblins and BASEBALL STARS 2. These three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. But wait – there’s more!

Later in the day on Monday, Nintendo will make your holiday shopping just a little bit easier. If some people on your gift list have visions of classic video games dancing in their heads, you’re in luck. Starting this week, Wii Shop Channel patrons can use a new Gifting feature to send games to other Wii owners with whom they’ve traded Friend Codes. It’s an easy and inexpensive way to give your fellow Nintendo buffs the gift of a classic game—no wrapping paper required. And don’t worry about duplication. If your friend already has the game you’re trying to give, you’ll get a simple message and be bumped back into the catalog to continue shopping.

Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

Pokémon Snap
Nintendo 64
1 player
Rated E for Everyone
1,000 Wii Points

Ghosts’n Goblins

The Japanese site for NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams has seen an update. There are some new levels, some new screenshots as well. Click on the button that says ‘update’ underneath it.

Official website: http://nights.sega.jp/nights2/

By the way, GameStop/EB are offering a NiGHTS Promo DVD to those who pre-order the game or buy an E-rated Sega title. It's a DVD that includes behind the scenes look at the making of the game.

Also upon those who reserve a Japanese copy of Rune Factory 2, a pre-order gift will be included, 32-page art booklet as well as a mini-drama/soundtrack CD.

Also for for Shiren the Wanderer 3 (Siren 3) pre-orders, SEGA will be offering a special remote stand that looks something like this:

2K has announced a partnership with Don King to bring Don King Presents: Prizefighter to the 360, Wii, and DS. The game aims to be the most in-depth boxing game yet, and will take a "documentary style" approach to conveying the life and hardships of a boxer. 2K’s Venom Games studio will be handling the game, which is the same team that worked on the Rocky game.

Development Tools Provider Kynogon has announced the availability of its Kynapse A.I. engine for Wii developers.

Using Kynapse, developers can more easily program 3D perception and spatial reasoning so that AI can dynamically identify hiding positions, threat zones, access ways and more. Additionally, the tools allow several thousands of non-player characters to act with advanced reasoning skills.

Many publishers such as Electronic Arts, THQ, Activision, Midway and SEGA currently employ Kynapse for their games. Over 60 titles have used the A.I. tools suite, including Crackdown, Fable 2 and The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. Two unspecified game developers are already utilizing Kynapse for their Wii projects, according to Kynogon.

-------------------
Good news for Guitar Hero III [Wii] owners, Activision will be offering remastered game discs early 2008 which will also enable downloadable content for the system sometime next year.

The new stereo-enabled discs will be free of charge through Activision. No specific date or how they would be shipped out. RedOctane is reportedly working feverishly with Nintendo to figure out a method of getting new songs on the Wii. Apparently, trying to wish them onto the system hasn't been working out very well.

Source

-------------------
For those who don't already know, two of the biggest video game labels have joined up. Activision has just teamed up with Venendi label to form Activision Blizzard.

Activision is responsible for games such as of course Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk, Call of Duty etc. while Blizzard (part of Vivendi) is known for major PC titles such as World of Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo series.

Now EA (Electronic Arts) has something to worry about.

Nyko has just announced their latest product, the Wireless Nunckuck for the Nintendo Wii. The Wireless Nunchuck from Nyko will launch next month in America.

It was recently revealed that, like the Japanese version of No More Heroes, the European version of the game will be edited and all instances of blood will be removed due to the controversies surrounding Manhunt 2, including but not limited to the unauthorized leak of the AO-rated version specifically in Europe. This action has left many European fans furious and has spawned a number a petitions with hope in changing the publisher's decision.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime held a conference call a few days ago to discuss the Wii demand and supply, the 'Wii Raincheck' program being exclusively offered by GameStop, the company's attitude towards online voice chat and more.

Nintendo and retailer GameStop will collaborate in an effort to help consumers secure a Wii this holiday season. Starting December 21, the 'Wii Raincheck' program will allow consumers to put down the full price of a Wii, for which they will receive a 'raincheck' that can be redeemed for a console in January. According to Fils-Aime, GameStop has "tens of thousands" of these certificates and he intends them for people who want "something to put under the tree."

Fils-Aime also noted that six million Wii units have been sold in the United States alone, with worldwide sales hovering around 11 million. Nintendo does not have the ability to stockpile systems, Fils-Aime explained, but the 1.8 million consoles being produced per month tend to sell out within days of reaching retailers. Although Nintendo ships 50% of manufactured Wii consoles to North America, the company has no plans at present to produce the machines in that territory.

Fils-Aime relayed Nintendo's desire to mostly leave older titles alone; he does not anticipate any Virtual Console games will receive the addition of online play. However, for upcoming online-enabled Wii titles, Fils-Aimed said that online voice chat comes down to finalizing a peripheral and that he wouldn't be surprised to see that functionality become available in the future.

Nintendo of America's President, Reggie Fils-Aime, says that the new year will be complicated.
Due to the high demand for Wii consoles, Nintendo can’t keep up with the supply. During an interview, Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo America, commented that Nintendo will suffer in the new year due to the giant demand that the Wii faces.

"The level of demand we are facing complicates all of our future business planning. All of that becomes a much tougher exercise until we have supply and demand curves that intersect", said Reggie. He then went on to say that the DS "continues to perform exceptionally well", although some retailers are concerned about their stock levels going into the holiday season.

Reggie also emphasised that Nintendo's goal is to meet the demand, citing it as a problem to future operations planning, saying "We at Nintendo America are focused on getting to the point when any consumer can walk into any of our retailers and find a Wii. Then we can plan, on an ongoing basis, the rest of the business".

--------------------
Bionic Commando recently interviewed Keiji Inafune, the creator of Mega Man, who had this to say regarding Brawl: "Well, I really do love Super Smash Brothers. It's a great series…but, Nintendo hasn't asked me yet if they can use Mega Man in their game. I'm still waiting…we have a little bit of time left, it’s not coming out for another few months."

I'll be back to update more within this busy week. Happy Holidays! \:D/

According to a GameDaily.biz report, Nintendo has clarified Reggie Fils-Aime's statements regarding the future connectivity possibilities of Wii and DS.

"An article about the Nintendo DS video game system in the December 31 Business Day section (of the NYT) incorrectly referred to future capabilities of the device," a company representative told GameDaily.biz. "The statement that complete Nintendo DS games will eventually be able to be downloaded into the device via a wireless connection with the company's Wii game console is incorrect. Users can download games to play on Wii, and, in the future, the Nintendo DS will be able to receive demo versions of some DS games from Wii, but not the entire game. The demo will be erased once the Nintendo DS is turned off."

Baroque, an upcoming action RPG title for Wii, will include a new first-person perspective that utilizes motion controls and can be switched to anytime during gameplay. Developer Sting also intends to fine-tune some of the balance and difficulty, and will add a quick save feature that can be used in dungeons.
The Wii version of Baroque will support two control schemes: Wii Remote and Nunchuk, and Classic Controller. Widescreen will additionally be implemented.
Baroque is a post-apocalyptic dungeon-crawling action-RPG. The game is expected to be released in North America during February 2008. The Wii version will also ship in Japan around the same time, but a PAL release has not been mentioned.

Speaking with Web site GamesIndustry.biz, Creative Director for developer Beenox Thomas Wilson revealed the development of a new James Bond title for Wii. The game is expected to be released alongside the new movie later this year.
"Right now we're working on a James Bond Wii title in conjunction with Treyarch and we're rolling with it because we're really good at what we're doing and Activision doesn't want to send their ports anywhere else," said Wilson.
He continued: "One thing we want to make sure of if we're making the Wii version is that we absolutely want the controls to be top notch. Although we don't fully control the original development content because it's in collaboration with Treyarch, that's one thing that we can do - make sure we put out a strong Wii title."
Owned by Activision, Beenox has previously been responsible for porting the publisher's franchises - such as the X-Men, Spider-Man and Shrek games - to various platforms. The studio developed the recent Bee Movie Game from scratch; the overall success of the title has allowed Beenox to expand into more original projects, while continuing to handle licensed content.
The next James Bond movie, a sequel to 2006's Casino Royale currently under the working title of Bond 22, is expected to appear in North American theaters on November 7. The film will see Daniel Craig reprising the role of Bond; screenwriters Paul Haggis, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade will also return.

Konami Digital Entertainment has announced the development of Target: Terror for the Wii.

Raw Thrills originally developed Target: Terror and published the game for arcades in 2004. A special edition of the game titled Target: Terror Gold awarded players with medals earned through bonuses and included mini-games accessible by damaging select areas within the environment.

Leviathan Games is handling development of the Wii version, basing the port off of the Gold edition. Like in the original, players will face off against various terrorist groups across the United States. Some of the battlegrounds include the Denver Airport, Golden Gate Bridge and Los Alamos National Laboratory. The game will mark Konami's first attempt to utilize the Wii Zapper.

Publisher Hudson Entertainment announced that their upcoming title, Deca Sports, will feature ten events: Beach Volleyball, Snowboard Cross, Badminton, Basketball, Curling, Figure Skating, Archery, Supercross, Soccer and Kart Racing. Each sport will use the Wii Remote in "unique yet accessible ways", according to Hudson. Additionally, all events will be playable in both single-player and multiplayer, although online play is not expected.
"We have seen tremendous growth in the casual sports gaming market in the last few years, and saw an opportunity that would be a perfect fit for the Nintendo Wii," said John Greiner, president and CEO of Hudson Entertainment. "With Deca Sports we wanted to offer a sports package that is unrivaled in terms of sheer number of available sports. More importantly, the game is easy to play, but offers layers of depth that even hardcore sports enthusiasts will love to play."
Deca Sports is expected to be released in North America during Summer 2008. The Japanese version will ship first on March 19. No PAL release date has been issued.

Hudson Soft has also developed the upcoming Bomberman Land for Wii which is ready set for a North American release next week on January 15th. The game is essentially a series of minigames set in the Bomberman universe that are meant to show off some simplistic, but cute, examples of Wii functionality. It was released in Japan for Nintendo's Wii last year on March 8, 2007.
