Personal Pics Forum FAQ- UPDATED
To save you time waitin for responses from the Q&A forum, i've compiled a little list of helpful tips for anyone who has questions about posting pictures.
1. Why can't I just upload my picture onto the post?
Hey now you CAN upload your pics, whaddya know. On the bottom of every "reply" page, there's an option that says, "Attachments" and has a tab with browse next to it. Click on browse, select the file you want to upload..and everythin is done.
2. If i can't upload it, how can't i get the picture onto the post?
So thus, in order to post your picture up here, you have to have a webpage in which the picture is on. This could mean your AOL Hompage, Geocities homepage, etc. Note however, that most webspace providers don't allow image linking so yes, that does pose a problem (this will be covered later).
3. okaay...that didn't fully answer my question....
Then, in order to put the picture "in the post" first, click the IMG button on the little toolbar above the message box where you type in your posts. (or just do [ img] url [ /img]) Up will pop a box that asks you for the URL of the picture. Hopefully you have memorized or had copied the url down, and just type it into the space provided. Click Submit, and you're done!
4. What happens if my webpage provider doesn't allow image linking?
Well, then just click the HTTP:// button up on the toolbar and insert the URL of picture there. That will create a link to your picture page. :)
5. How do I deal with avatars?
Ok, go to "my profile" in the top toolbar and click on the "Edit Options" button. Then scroll down all the way to the bottom and you can see some Avatar options show up.
Another thing, try to upload the avatars yourselves instead of linking them from another site, since it sucks up the latter's bandwidth, its a very uncourteous thing to do.
6. I know this isn't a question, but i'm having resizing my images, changing them to a different format, etc.
In that case, send it to me (i would be more than happy to be of service) if you're having trouble, or any of the other mods (with their permission- i don't want to get blamed when six other mods end up with a handful of pm's that all contain pictures that need editing).
Oh for people who have functioning image editing progs. All you have to do to change the size is go to edit or something and voila you'll probably see an image resize option. With more primitive programs, i'm not sure about that....
Also in order to change filetype, go to file, "save as" ("save as copy" is easier for Photoshop users) select the format you want, and click save.
7. Can I post up a picture of somebody that is not me?
Yes, if you state TRUTHFULLY who they are. Don't make up something, because it will eventually kick you in the arse...If the pictures is of a gasoo or somethin, it should be in the Other Pics forum.
Contest Rules
1. Enter please by the time given. Late submissions will not be accepted
2. No porn, nudity, or anything that would make someone throw up. If you are a sexy female model posing in the nude, the same thing applies. Use some common sense when posing. These submissions will be deleted. this applies to the entire pp forum as well
3. Have fun i guess, can't really think of anything else to write.
4. A submission must be relevant to the topic. If you dress up like a sugar plum fairy for the thug contest, there should be a good reason
Double posts are tolerated if they are "useful." I will merge a useless multiple-post if i see one. Try using the edit button sometime.
Thats it for now, as more questions come up, we will add things onto the faq. If you have questions just PM me
If you're not going to be nice, then don't respond
Being a critic won't get your post edited but being an ass will
Be nice, don't cuss someone out for bein not up to par wid your standards, and post alot of your pics!
