the IM language is jsut another evolution of english. soon enough it might even become a common offline language. look at the word Hello....it evolved through time right? and turned into hey and hi...and I bet people used to think that that was weird..but now it's as common as the air you breathe. I mean look at english...it's based on a whole bunch of different languages....and it's it's own language now...so why can't the IM language be based on english and become a whole new language all together...I dont' think the IM language will be come Newspeak(go read nineteen eightyfour) or anything..I'm just saying that English is a collection of words taken from different places and completely original words too....it's the same thing for the IM language.
I don't think it makes you dumb at all. I'm not saying it makes you any smarter either though.
