| Open-minded When actuating open-mindedness, remember that part of being open-minded is to actually be open to other ideas. If you find someone who you deem more sheltered and less open-minded, you really do not have to pick a fight with them, and worse...to treat them worse and talk down to them. I think being open-minded entails more tolerance, tolerance of all ideas even if they are "not as open-minded as your own." Being intolerant of such things would make the open-minded seeker a little bit close-minded, would it not?
I just thought i would say something, i see this a lot and frequently am perplexed by professors of open-mindedness telling other people that they are "ignorant" or "naive" because they do not share the same view as the so-called "open-minded" person.

Just because you are "open-minded" does not make you a better person, and does not make it ok (though many think it is) to talk down to people and treat them poorly. Know that. I do not think people use the label entirely correct.

 Any thoughts?
